Background

Originally from a small pueblo in Mexico called La Moncada, GTO. Manuel ("Manny") immigrated to Richmond, California early on - a city famous for it's love of futbol. Playing futbol helped Manuel make some of his first friends as a kid, some of which he still keeps in contact with to this day!

For Manuel, coaching is just like teaching outdoors. He loves working through complex problems, being at the edge of his comfort zone, and spending hours mastering a craft. Manuel loves the relationships that are built on the pitch and helping athletes by being a guide and part of their support system.

Manuel is excited to start his tenure at Magic, in his words, "I'm incredibly excited to joing Cal Magic. I was welcomed with open arms by incredibly humble and inspiring individuals. I saw an impressive blend of talent, professionalism, and dedication which lured me in. I noticed many parallels from my past life in hardware engineering when I looked at the staff that Magic had assembled. I can't wait to learn!"

Off the field, Manuel loves spending time with his niece Ashley (one of the rare things he enjoys more than futbol). He is passionate about art and and science, expressing himself through 35mm film photography and CAD. When he's not on the grass, you might find him developing film in his kitchen or machining parts for either his drift car or motorcycle!

Fun Fact: The high school team I coach at counts their pushups in prime numbers!
