Background
Fernando was born in Mexico and moved to the United States at a young age, growing up in Martinez. As he found his place in a new community, soccer became a powerful way for him to build friendships and connections that have lasted far beyond his time on the field.
Fernando played for his local Liga Latina league and Heritage Soccer Club, and went on to compete at the varsity level at Alhambra High School. He continues to stay connected to the game by playing in local adult leagues.
Fernando has always been passionate about soccer—as a player, spectator, and now coach. He values the constant opportunity the game provides to learn, grow, and challenge oneself, both on and off the field. He especially enjoys working with the next generation of players, helping shape their experience in a positive way while sharing his knowledge and love for the game.
Five years from now, Fernando hopes his players will say that he was a fair coach who instilled discipline without taking away their enjoyment of the sport. He aims to help players feel more connected to the game, grow in both skill and character, and reach their full potential in a supportive environment.
In his words, Fernando chose to coach at Magic because, “This club will challenge me and help me expand my knowledge of the game. I feel very aligned with the club philosophy and believe it’s the best place for me to grow as a coach while giving back to players.”
In addition to coaching, Fernando enjoys going to the gym, playing video games, and going on bike rides.
